Creative Mentoring
We are an early intervention service offering creative mentoring for children aged 7-18 (with a little wriggle room) who struggle with anxiety, low self esteem and emotional regulation. We guide children in creating a personalized toolbox of skills that empower them throughout their lives.
Sessions are highly creative, incorporating coaching with colouring, drawing,
journaling, and creative therapy techniques to help children express their

What we are not:
Whilst we have an understanding & training in trauma and incorporate this knowledge into our sessions, it is important to state we are not a trauma based counselling service.
If your child has experienced significant trauma/abuse we recommend seeking trauma informed psychotherapy/counselling to support them navigating that initial stage of processing their experiences. For further guidance see below a breakdown of types of therapy.

Reason 4 Being offers early intervention support for initial signs of struggling. We do not offer clinical therapy or counselling but instead can support young people in exploring their feelings and finding ways to feel better. If your child is struggling on a clinical level with anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation or other mental illness we remember seeking appropriate treatment through your GP.
Types of therapy/support available for your child:

It is important your child gets the most suitable support for them, below is a breakdown for you so that you can best find the service for your child.

Coaching- this is a more goal focused therapy compared to counselling. It focuses on exploring your thoughts, feelings and emotions in a proactive and engaging way and creating tangible steps to change struggles in your life. It is not a replacement for deeper psychiatric support but a great first step for early intervention. It focuses more on the present moment and how you would like to feel in the future rather than processing the past.

Mentoring- This is when a mentor shares their knowledge, skills, and experience to help another person to progress in a more relaxed environment.

Counselling- Counselling is a reflective form of therapy exploring your thoughts, feelings & emotions to help you process things happening or that have happened in your life. There are different forms of counselling as professionals tend to find a specific niche they most enjoy, however, a general rule of thumb is that counselling is a great first step if you want to talk to someone.

Family therapy/ play therapy- This service is best suited for families who are struggling with the relational dynamic in the household or children who are struggling to verbally open up and would be more suited to play therapy.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy- Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy with a psychologist that can help you manage your challenges by changing the way you think and behave. It's most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression.

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy- This is a skills-based therapy that focusses on building skills such as mindfulness, emotional regulation, communication and managing intense emotions. It is a form of talking therapy that is proactive and requires active engagement from the individual. It is great for people with mood disorders, personality disorders & ADHD.
Hypnotherapy- Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to try to treat conditions or change habits.
