How it works:
Process:
Step 1: Enquire about our services through our email reason4beingmentoring@gmail.com expressing your interest in sessions.
You will then be sent a screening questionnaire to be completed as well as a booking link for a free call with Lucy our lead mentor (both child & parent should be present).
This is a good time to get to know each other and learn more about what we do prior to booking your first session.
Step 2: You can then book your 45 minute session without the parent/guardian present choosing for face to face or virtual sessions.
We allow our clients to trial us for 3 sessions- paying individually- if you decide to continue you can pay in blocks of 3.

Step 3: We recommend weekly or bi-weekly sessions.
(When the mentor and parent/guardian mutually agree on suitable progression you can delay sessions to be less frequent.)
Cost:
Enquiry call is free
1:1 face to face 45 minute sessions- £50
Virtual sessions £40 held on microsoft teams
Excursions organised with parental/guardian permission if suitable for the child's progression & development is an extra cost (agreed upon with parent/guardian)

Location:
Sessions will be held at our main therapy space in Westbourne Dorset in the UK, with the possibility of going out into the community for walks and activities for added support, when previously agreed with the parent/guardian.

Time:
Sessions are 45 minutes

What we are not:
Whilst we have an understanding & training in trauma and incorporate this knowledge into our sessions, it is important to state we are not a trauma based counselling service.
If your child has experienced significant trauma/abuse we recommend seeking trauma informed psychotherapy/counselling to support them navigating that initial stage of processing their experiences. For further guidance see below a breakdown of types of therapy.
Types of therapy/support available for your child:

It is important your child gets the most suitable support for them, below is a breakdown for you so that you can best find the service for your child.

Coaching- this is a more goal focused therapy compared to counselling. It focuses on exploring your thoughts, feelings and emotions but also being proactive in learning how to change them. It focuses more on the present moment and how you would like to feel in the future rather than processing the past.

Mentoring- This is when a mentor shares their knowledge, skills, and experience to help another person to progress in a more relaxed environment.

Counselling- Counselling is a reflective form of therapy exploring your thoughts, feelings & emotions to help you process things happening or that have happened in your life. There are different forms of counselling as professionals tend to find a specific niche they most enjoy, however, a general rule of thumb is that counselling is a great first step if you want to talk to someone.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy- Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy with a psychologist that can help you manage your challenges by changing the way you think and behave. It's most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression.

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy- This is a skills-based therapy that focusses on building skills such as mindfulness, emotional regulation, communication and managing intense emotions. It is a form of talking therapy that is proactive and requires active engagement from the individual. It is great for people with mood disorders, personality disorders & ADHD.
Hypnotherapy- Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to try to treat conditions or change habits.
